Today, Feb.1, around 100 music stars sang together in the new version of "We are the world" created to support Haiti relief.

"We Are The World" is a song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie which was recorded for charity by the supergroup USA for Africa. The song was co-produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian for the album "We are the World".

The song quickly gained a worldwide commercial success topping music charts throughout the world and becoming the fastest-selling American pop single in history.

"We Are The World" 2010 remake is the 25th anniversary after the song became a global hit in 1985. The new version in 2010 also included Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie who involved in the original. The song is aimed to benefit Haiti victims after a 7.0 Richter earthquake hit this small and poor country on January 14 and devastated the nation.

"We Are The World" remake this year seems to attract many big names in the music industry who want to help Haiti relief effort.

Among the music stars who take part in the 2010 new version of "We are the World" are Lady Gaga, Barbra Streisand, Justin Timberlake, Celine Dion, Enrique Iglesias, Fergie, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Eminem. Right after the Grammy Awards which attract the participation of many celebrities, We are the World 2010 remake at Nokia Theatre promises to be a successful music event in the music industry for many musicians and entertainers to enjoy.

Like original "We Are The World" in 1985 which was used to raise fund for African famine relief, 2010 remake is also used to raise fund for Haiti after earthquake and help the impoverished country recover its economy.

The original version was honored numerous times and earned many awards including three Grammy Awards, one American Music Award and a People's Choice Award. More importantly, an amount of $63 million was raised for African relief effort. Organizers of the 2010 remake expect that the remake will help gain similar success for Haiti.
