American Idol is going from four judges back to its three, with one original member remaining for the 2010 edition of the program. American Idol, a reality television competition to find new solo singing talent, debuted on June 11, 2002, as American Idol: The Search for a Superstar on the Fox network.

In 2004 American Idol judge Simon Cowell described Timberlake in People Magazine as "just some white kid who's tried to act black over the last several years".

Nigel Lythgoe, who is noted for being the producer of the shows Pop Idol and American Idol as well as creating, executive producing and being a regular judge for So You Think You Can Dance, is expected to return to the show for the 10th American Idol audition.
